Christine Heit is a mom of 2 and ZUMBA Fitness Instructor offering ZUMBA classes at The Dance Shoppe in Milton Ontario 5 days per week!

Christine’s ZUMBA Story

“I took a community class in 2008 and I was nervous to go back. I love to dance but seeing all those skinny people who knew the steps was intimidating! I am SO happy I had to courage to go back! ZUMBA isn’t about how you look, it’s about how you feel and I’m very thankful to Julieta Tabares who was my instructor and mentor! She inspired me to stick with it!”

ZUMBA® Toning

When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba® Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.

Starts: Thursday July 19, 7pm – 8pm
Sessions: 7 sessions
Where: The Dance Shoppe
Instructor: Erryn Firth

Whoohoo!  I’m happy to announce Milton’s FIRST ZUMBA party!  I’m hosting a 2-hour ZUMBA party at the Milton Leisure Centre on June 2, 2012 from 6pm – 8pm!  Check out my website for more details!

I was super-excited to try this game out!  Inside the box is the game and a cool belt to hold the Wii remote.  The belt is really comfortable and made for all sizes.  Having the remote in the belt doesn’t get in the way of dancing.

There are a few game modes to choose from, you can start dancing right away or create a profile to go through the routines and classes.   You can choose beginner, intermediate or advanced songs and routines but I was a bit disappointed you didn’t hear a preview of the music for that routine because you don’t really know if it’s a fast song or if you want to dance along to that song.   If you don’t like the song once you start, you have to exit out and start all over again.

I started with a quick warmup song with Beto as the instructor I had to follow.  The game shows an outline of an instructor and dancers behind them.  The outlines change colour and turn green when you’re following along to the routine.   I found it hard to follow the outline of the instructor initially, especially Beto!

The moves were easy and repetitive, just like in class but sometimes the movement on screen wasn’t synced up with the music so it made it hard to score extra points.  I found myself working harder to copy the exact movements on screen to get extra points.  There are 4 levels and a progress meter at the bottom, the better you follow the routine, the faster you make it through each level.

It’s a really fun game, extremely addictive and a fantastic workout!  I haven’t gone through all the song choices yet but I’ll post more about the songs when I post the full review of the game.  If you’re not familiar with the names of the ZUMBA songs, it might be a bit frustrating at first but they do list the type of rhythm it is (cumbia, salsa etc).

Overall I’d give it an 7 out of 10 because sometimes the movement and music is out of sync but most importantly, it doesn’t give you the real feeling and energy that being in a class does.  It definitely gives you the workout you’re looking for, not necessarily the party atmosphere!

Give the Gift of ZUMBA!

How cool is this?  ZUMBA Fitness for the Wii, XBOX 360 and PS3!  Have you tried it yet?  Leave a comment and let me know what you think!  I put this on my wish list, secret santa if you’re listening this is a pretty good hint for you!

Our family loves playing Wii Fit together and my kids love ZUMBA so this will be a great addition to the collection.  Look for a review of the game provided my secret santa has taken the not-so-subtle hint!

Welcome to My Blog!

Thanks for visiting my blog!  I’m new at this so bare with me!  I discovered ZUMBA in 2008 when I was looking for a fun way to get some exercise and get back into shape after our 2nd child was born.

I’m not much of a fan of regular, regimented and boring exercise and what I love about ZUMBA is that it’s fun and makes me feel fantastic!  I lost 55 pounds within a few months by going to 2 – 3 ZUMBA classes per week.  I didn’t change much else about my lifestyle initially and was amazed how fun it was to burn so many calories!

With this blog I want to share my stories and help inspire other moms out there who want to get back into or stay in shape all the while having fun!  You can find more information about the ZUMBA classes I offer on my website.
